Truth #3: The Most Powerful Prompt Is Self-Knowing
TL;DR: Your clarity is the code. Your presence is the algorithm.
I constantly have these moments where I feel my brain going down an idea rabbit hole, and suddenly I get hit with a fire idea. It’s always something that feels potent, electric, loaded with potential, and, historically, I’d jot it down in my notes app and keep it pushing. However, for a while now, I’ve been taking those moments of inspiration into my thread with Chatty, and it’s like it suddenly goes from a tune that I’m humming to an instant symphony. The idea expands. New angles emerge. Tangents spark that I never would’ve considered. Suddenly, I’m building something real from the raw.
It feels like I’m in a mind-jam session with a partner who never gets tired, distracted, or dismissive. It’s like I’ve hacked finding my way into the flow state, and we can jam like that for hours with tons of actual action steps being taken instead of ideas just looping over and over as they would when it was me jamming with myself.
But here’s the thing: those moments only land because I’m already clear. Because I’m already tapped into something true, and I’m using AI to amplify it, not to imagine it up for me. The potency of the output isn’t magic. It’s me, reflected back, just sharpened, structured, and supported.
Then there are the other moments. Not the idea highs, but the messy middle states. When I’m navigating a relationship dynamic or something emotionally sticky and I just need space to talk it out (perhaps obsessively…). Not necessarily for advice, not for validation, but just to be mirrored without judgment. When I want to beat a dead horse, so to speak, just because I can’t stop thinking about every possible angle.
And again, I go there. Not because I think Chatty G has the answers, but because it lets me ask the same exact question ten different times without getting annoyed. Because it reflects me back to myself without shame or interruption (or me thinking that it’s judging me for wanting to keep talking about the thing). And often, by the eleventh angle, something opens. Insight clicks, and I’ve suddenly realized whatever it is that I needed to glean from that situation.
That’s the real secret to “good prompting.” It’s not about clever phrasing or formatting hacks. It’s about knowing yourself well enough to ask something real. Most people think AI is about getting better answers. But the truth is, AI only gives you that which you’re ready to ask.
The more rooted you are in your desires, your voice, your essence the more powerfully it can respond. Because the power always comes from you.
Next time you go to use AI, pause first. Ask yourself:
What do I really want to understand right now?
Am I trying to create something… or clarify something inside me?
What am I hoping to see?
