Truth #4: You Are Still the Source
TL;DR: Tools assist. You initiate.
When I’m short on time (or if I’ve procrastinated and backed myself into a deadline) I notice the temptation to “just ask Chatty G.” I’ll come to AI and just want to get that something done. Something quick. Something good enough. And it usually delivers exactly that.
But I’ve learned something important about those moments. When time is tight or the task feels soulless, it’s easy, too easy, to let the tool just take over. And AI will step in, no questions asked, no judgment, no hesitation. But there’s a quiet danger in that pattern: It starts to slowly dull and erode your intuitive edge and capacity to kick something off on your own. When you let the tool initiate for you, it’s like letting someone else stretch for you and then wondering why your own body feels stiff.
There’s a big difference between using AI to articulate what you already know and asking it to invent your clarity for you. When I come to it rooted, in my voice, my vision, my direction, it’s a beautiful amplifier of my own being and knowing. When I’m vague, scattered, or trying to skip the inner work… it reflects that right back, too. And if I’m not careful, I start mistaking efficiency for alignment.
The truth is: AI can build with you. But it will never really be able to initiate for you. You, your mind, your inspiration, your knowing is the one who has to decide to show up.
Before you prompt, pause and ask yourself:
Have I already touched into what I believe, want, or know?
Am I looking for support… or an escape from thinking?
Is this task I’m outsourcing something I’ve actually claimed for myself?
These tools are powerful, but they are not sovereign. You are.
